The teen was walking in North Philadelphia early on March 28 when he was fatally shot during an apparent robbery attempt, city police have said

Now, in a GoFundMe campaign set up by his sister Jasmine Burnside, his Philly neighbors have raised thousands to honor his memory.

The campaign, launched on Friday, March 31, has raised more than $8,000 as of Thursday, April 6. Burnside says the proceeds will assist with funeral costs and associated expenses for the teenager's loved ones in their time of grief.

As Daily Voice reported, Weedon and another individual were headed to school on the 1600 block of West Hunting Park Avenue just before 7:40 a.m. when they were approached by four suspects.

Investigators believe the group tried to rob Weedon before shooting him once in the chest. He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 8:14 a.m., the department said.

As of April 6, police have not announced any arrests in connection with the killing. Anyone with information is asked to call or text Philadelphia police at 215-686-8477 or submit an anonymous tip online.
